The paintings of Bedřiška Uždilová are distinguished by an original composition- by means

of ingeniously designed color surfaces,the artist builds her painting piece by piece - as a relationship as a house.

This is perhaps why the viewer does not come to terms with her paintings at one glance. On closer examination, putting aside the purely optical enchantment, we start seeing the primery, resting layer underneath the structured surfaces,we begin to perceive figures, landscapes, objects.

The correlation of forms in her painting is underscored by color. A striking color enhancement and an escalation of color and light intensity lead to strong optical experiences.Tthe colors resonate, intensify, are sharp as well as soft, feather away, quiver with reverberation...

Bedřiška Uždilová has been awarded a number of international prizes, such as the Grand Prix for painting in Forte dei Marmi in Italy in 1964, the first prize at '94 Salon d' Automne in Paris, and the international Franz Kafka Medal in 2009.
